What appears to be a bald eagle resting on top of our crane boom.

What appears to be a bald eagle resting on top of our crane boom.

While taking a break during a tree removal outside of Boston recently, one of our Certified Arborists looked up at the top of our 120 foot crane boom to find a bird taking a break as well.  While none of us are ornithologists, to our untrained eye, it certainly looks like a bald eagle.

The bald eagle, the official national bird of the US, has increased its population in Massachusetts and elsewhere in the country due to recovery efforts over the past several decades.  Eagles have flourished to the point that its status was changed from “endangered” to “threatened” in Massachusetts in 2011, after being removed from the federal endangered species list in 2007.
